I am fairly sure I would struggle big-time without my iPhone.

BUT - and it is a big but that would make it worthwhile - I am also fairly sure that it would be incredibly liberating - a freeing experience to know that you dont *really* need that little piece of technology to exist.

An interesting concept - who people are is constantly changing because of their interaction with the media - we are all constantly effected by different bits of knowledge and information. So to spend a week or week with your friends caming without any form of media would mean that you really get to know your friends more for who they are *right now*.

we talked about this in my telecomm class... how no one could go without any media for a whole week which included cell phones. The professor said he used to offer a ton of extra credit for people who could pull it off. the only thing they could do was use the computer for school. He said the only people who COULD pull it off were the out doorsy hiking type because they had something to occupy their time with.
and today we talked about how much of an affect the media has on our lives and it just depresses me so much to the point i almost feel sick. to know that there is no escape. because even if you decide you won't use the media, you'll be so out of the loop and so behind in the cultural world.
It really makes me wish i had a million dollars so i could buy my own secluded island.
As much as I like the convenience of your iphone, sometimes i think it takes up too much of your attention when we're together. but of course... i'm guilty too lol. Cellphones provide such a distraction these days that it makes it difficult to interact with people on a more personal level than we were once used to.
the thing that scares me the most is that if this is the society media has created today, what is it going to be like in the future?

What can I say - sometimes the magic fades but it will come back. If not with you and Chandler then with your children. I actually had to only give my kids 3 presents each this year. They took it great and were totally on board with the "Jesus only got 3 gifts and why should you get more?". Everything I said was true but it didn't make Keith and I feel any better about it. We do need to remember the reason! When we got here to LA the kids new they had lots of presents from the the grandparents but believe it or not they never asked once to open them. All they cared about was seeing them. As parents we need to give our kids more credit. It's not about the gifts - it's about the experience. A prime example of this is the blog you wrote on 12/12 and the one you wrote twelve days later - ironic. I loved the present you gave me =) You're the greatest
